Oddity thy name is Rosalia. Rosalia is an alternative reggaeton artist from Spain. I don’t know if she is the first to do this alternativereggetone, but she does bring something to the dance floor. This album is a mix of hot dance tracks and gut wrenching emotions. From talking about pregnancy to hentai, Rosalia is dissing herself in front of us, and it’s a fun and sad show to watch. Her vocals tap into some ungodly emotions, and so she can hit some intense notes, forcing the listener to hold back tears. There are hardly any moments on this album where her vocals fail. Some of the backing vocals can be a bit of a turn-off, but that doesn't happen often. The surprise pop of the weeknd shocked and aws me with his vocals, of course, but he can speak soanish? Or at least read it well. The production on this album is mixed well most of the time. Sometimes audio or instruments are hard to hear, but they are usually drowned out to let Rosalia's vocals shine. She is not afraid to experiment with her vision, and I respect that. Most of these experiments are fun to listen to; heck, they even made me like some reggaetone for the first time. From high-pitched reegatone tracks to odd hentai-inspired songs and tejano arema stlye ballads, there is a lot this album offers.
