The sun might really be cut off from you after listening to this dark and menacing concept album from the band Granite State. Vision. These guys have it because they were able to really craft a concept album that actually feels like there is a fully fleshed-out idea and plan to it. They create such a dark and terrifying atmosphere with the heavyness of the songs, the intensity of the lyrics, and the fascinating interludes that beautifully link the sons together. I normally don’t ever feel an album is a concept album; it normally feels like a bunch of IG songs on an album. However, the boys in Granite State really were able to capture the idea of being cut off the sun in a short little package. I felt the fear. The dense guitars had me shaken to the core. The dirty and muddled bass rattled my brain. With every hit from the drums, I could feel it in the pit of my stomach. The vocals were raw and animalistic at times. However, the only problem I saw on this album was the vocalist flow and vocal pattern. The times he would do lighter vocals with a rap flow to them really threw off the flow of the songs. But they don’t happen that often.
