Solid execution! That's what you get here from Belfast hardcore band Embrace Extinction; they are doing a great job of making simple things sound and feel lively. You get some churchy riffs, deep drumming, bass that gets a lot of time to breathe and has a nice rich sound to them, and middle of the ground vocals that are hard and tough. The songs would normally be a bit bland if another band made them, but they play well and tight, giving the song a solid feel. I would say the songs have a simple and clean feel to them. Nothing flashy, just hard, hardcore music being made here, like on the opening track, “trapped soul." They do switch things up a bit on “broken chains" by adding some faster riffs and fast and tight drumming. Some blast beats help create a nice visceral sound at times. They even throw in some thrashy-like riffs like “Last chance for you." They can create a nice menacing atmosphere at tomes with their deep resonating drums. A big surprise I found out about this EP was how well-paced it felt. The last song, “mortal coil,” is 7 minutes long, yet it feels like it's only 3 with how solid it is and how it goes by so quickly while keeping your attention. I will say some of the writing on here can be a bit repetitive; however, the production and tight playing from the band can help you overlook those moments of repetition. If you are looking for a well-crafted piece of work that has great production, songwriting, and playing, then you will enjoy this intense effort from embrace execution.
