Despize - Scotland's Hardcore Review

Scotland's own Despize has risen to show the world what the Scottish scene is all about, and with this album, I can say they are here to spin kick and mosh hard their way into your heart with some solid ass songs. The most standout thing here is the production. The mixing and layering of the songs sound so tight. It really helps elevate the album as a whole. They have the dirty and hard riffs you want from a hardcore band. The riffing on here is quite impressive with how simple and raw it sounds. The tuning sounds great and has a decent style to it. The snappy drumming keeps you excited and grooving along. The drum fills are nicely done on this record and help keep things fresh. Vocals that have a raw and angry power to them. However, at times they can be a bit too muffled, which makes it hard to understand what is being said. The backing vocals add a lot of variety to the songs, so you never get bored. The only real issue is the bass. It’s hard to hear at times or gets drowned out a lot, but when you can hear it, it sounds really great. This is a well-produced and fine record made to show you what Scottish hardcore is all about, and they are here to bring the pain!
