There are definitely no squares among this well-rounded ep from Conservative Military Image. The boys in CMI are back and doing what they do best: making fast, punchy, and raw punk music. The punchy drums are what really stand out on this episode. They have this weird hollow sound to them that makes them ring out and sound really hefty. Mix that with the fast in-the-pocket drumming from the drummer, and you get some nice catchy songs here. Another thing that's catchy here are the riffs. They have some solid riffs that get you to move your head along without even knowing it. While you are doing that, the bass is helping you feel the songs by being so thick. The vocals are, for the most part, unchanged from their previous release. Raw and clear vocals. The only noticeable difference is in the song "Indoor Skins," where they bring in a guest vocalist to help switch things up a bit. The production is really good here as well. Nothing ever feels mixed or layered wrong. Solid engineering. It’s a fine EP with some fine songs. Groundbreaking or revolutionary, maybe not, but it’s still a great set of songs.
