Despair is what you are getting here with this album from anxious arms, but not in the way you would think. They have an interesting sound of grunge, doom, metal, and hardcore that they incorporate into this album. They really try to craft an overall experience of dread on this album, which they succeed i think until the end, and they decided to kick in your teeth with some craziness. The band is trying to create an atomsphere here, I think, and I get it, but in doing so, something gets messed up, I think. Mainly, it’s the vocals. It’s a problem of the mixing and layering of the vocals and the vocalist performance. He is the weakest part of this album in his artistic choice of slow singing. Either his vocals don’t match with the song or you don’t hear him talk. He sounds great when he screams. His energy was Really matches the song. The best part of this album was the bass because it added a lot of weight and textures to the song to make it sonically pleasing. The guitars had good riffs and played some interesting parts here, but nothing too amazing to remember. The drums had some fun and tight playing when heard. The use of all the cymbals throughout the album was really great. They crafted an interesting album here worth checking out a few times.
