If you’ve ever wondered what Power Trip would sound like with a gritty 90s grunge twist and industrial aesthetics, Zone is here to deliver. This New York-based thrash band is keeping the spirit of thrash metal alive while injecting their own unique flavor, setting them apart from the rest. They don’t just rely on speed and aggression—they bring a raw, atmospheric edge that gives their music a distinct personality.

One of the most striking elements of this release is the way they incorporate industrial sounds and eerie samples into their music. From the screeching rust of metal scraping against surfaces to the distant patter of rain, these subtle details create an unsettling mood that lingers throughout the EP. It’s not just thrash—it’s thrash with a dystopian undercurrent.

The guitars are razor-sharp, delivering a relentless assault of fast, chugging riffs that feel both chaotic and precise. They strike a perfect balance between breakneck aggression and dense, crushing heaviness, keeping the energy levels high while maintaining a sense of weight. The drums are another highlight—dynamic and intricate, they add layers of depth that might go unnoticed if you’re not paying close attention. The drumming isn’t just about speed; it’s about controlled chaos, shifting between blistering thrash beats and moments of eerie restraint that enhance the tension.

The bass, while sometimes buried in the mix, adds a deep, rumbling undertone that subtly reinforces the intensity of each track. The vocals, on the other hand, are an absolute force—raw, distorted, and drenched in a bleak industrial aesthetic. There’s a crushing weight to the delivery, though at times, the vocalist sounds slightly winded, which adds to the unfiltered, unpolished charm of the record.

If you’re looking for a darker, more atmospheric take on thrash—something that feels like Power Trip thrown into a post-apocalyptic wasteland—Zone’s latest release is exactly what you need. This is thrash with an edge, a unique blend of brutality and atmosphere that will leave you wanting more.
