Conservative Military Image’s latest EP is anything but square—this is a collection of tracks that’s as sharp and dynamic as it is raw. The band is back to doing what they do best: delivering fast, punchy, and unapologetically gritty punk music. The drums are the standout feature here, with a unique hollow tone that gives them an almost resonant, deep punch. They hit hard, ringing out with a heavy weight that complements the tight, in-the-pocket style of the drummer. This combination results in some seriously catchy rhythms that will have you nodding along before you even realize it.
The riffs are another element that makes this EP stand out. They’re solid and infectious, the kind of crunchy, driving lines that effortlessly grab your attention and get your head bobbing in time with the music. Meanwhile, the bass adds a thick, grounding presence that helps flesh out the tracks, giving them an extra layer of depth and making the songs hit that much harder.
Vocally, the band hasn’t strayed far from the raw, clear delivery that characterized their previous release. There’s a certain unpolished quality to the vocals that gives the songs a directness and intensity, capturing the essence of punk energy. The one noticeable change comes in the track “Indoor Skins,” where a guest vocalist is brought in to mix things up and add some variety to the vocal landscape.
Production-wise, the EP is solid. Every element feels balanced and well-engineered, with nothing seeming out of place or overdone. The mix is clean and tight, and the overall sound benefits from a crisp, cohesive feel that allows each instrument to shine.
While this EP may not be groundbreaking or revolutionary, it’s definitely a great set of songs. It may not break new ground in the genre, but it more than makes up for it with its high energy and punchy, infectious tracks. Fans of the band and punk in general will find a lot to love here.
