Candy has outdone themselves by pushing the sounds of industrial and hardcore to help forge a new type of music, which can rightfully be called hypercore. They dont shy away from making their sound more heavy and expanding on their electronic industrial elements. They channel those old 90s heavy house and trance vibes and infuse them into hardcore. It's a wonderful sensation of new sounds that feel so refreshing in the hardcore scene. Now the hardcore elements are still there because the drumming is beyond tight on this release and the snare is popping so hard on here. The riffs are heavy and slugy and just have a nasty sound to them, which sounds great. The bass is heavy and adds a good punch to the overall feel of the songs. The vocals have such variety here that it's hard to choose which style of clean or unclean vocals you like. Its crazy how so many other bands can be felt on this record without feeling like a straight rip. At times I got vein fm vibes and code ornage vibes. Speaking of the latter, I feel like this is what Code Orange was trying to accomplish with their album from last year. Dark and brooding while pushing the ideas of hardcore into newer territories.
