Wreckage, a fresh and energetic hardcore band hailing from Connecticut, has made quite an impression with their latest release, Our Time. This EP is a fast-paced, high-energy blast of hardcore that stays true to the genre's roots while injecting a sense of urgency and fresh vitality. Clocking in at a brief runtime, Our Time proves that you don’t need an hour-long album to leave a lasting impression.

The band delivers a series of fast, aggressive tracks that showcase their ability to craft hard-hitting hardcore jams. Each song brings something unique to the table, with raw intensity and emotion, making it clear that Wreckage is here to make noise in the hardcore scene. The fast tempos and crushing riffs set the tone for an exhilarating listening experience, with each track offering a dose of adrenaline.

While the majority of Our Time impresses, there are moments where the EP feels a bit uneven. The intro and outro tracks, while not terrible, feel somewhat generic compared to the rest of the EP’s raw intensity. These tracks could have been trimmed or reworked to better match the energy of the other songs. That said, the core of the record is strong, and the other tracks are far more dynamic and engaging.

The standout element of this release is the vocal performance. The frontman’s voice is a breath of fresh air for hardcore, offering something different than the typical guttural growls or screamed vocals that dominate the genre. Their vocal delivery is sharp and aggressive but still retains a unique quality that separates Wreckage from other bands in the scene.

The musicianship across the EP is solid, with tight drumming and intricate guitar work. Although there are moments where the instrumentation feels a little repetitive, the band proves that they can experiment and push their sound forward. The rhythm section holds things down well, while the guitarists provide just the right balance of melody and dissonance. Hardcore purists will appreciate the energy and the “no-frills” approach to their music.

Our Time is a brief but effective release, with tracks that don’t overstay their welcome. As a hardcore band, the length of the songs and the EP as a whole isn’t necessarily a negative—it’s about quality, not quantity. The lack of a standout track may make it hard for Our Time to become a genre-defining release, but the songs are well-crafted and energetic, ensuring that hardcore fans will enjoy the EP from start to finish.

Lyrically, Wreckage shows potential. While no single line or verse struck me as life-changing, the words are well-written and convey the anger and frustration typical of hardcore music. If there’s one thing this EP proves, it’s that Wreckage knows how to pack a punch in a short amount of time, making Our Time a promising release for any hardcore enthusiast looking for new music to dive into.

Overall, Our Time is a very solid effort from a young and hungry band making their mark on the hardcore scene. Though it’s not flawless, the EP captures the essence of hardcore and showcases Wreckage's potential to evolve as they continue to grow. For fans of aggressive, fast-paced hardcore with a touch of originality, this is definitely an EP worth checking out. If you’re looking for a short yet powerful release that doesn’t waste any time, Wreckage’s Our Time is exactly what you need.
