Veil of Maya might have gotten a lot lighter in their aesthetics with the use of a lot of neon lights and album covers, but they are still as heavy and gritty as ever. The Djent Juggernauts are here to show you that dark music can be bright, and bright music can be dark as well. This band infuses lots of lighter music elements like clean vocals, pop-like production, and whimsical symphonics with heavy and hard riffing, big, bold drumming, and demonic-like vocals for a well-balanced release. The one thing that really makes everything come together is the production. The mixing and layering of all the different elements of this album have been effortlessly crafted here. Nothing sounds overproduced or overpowering other instruments. It feels like a well-balanced breakfast with just the right amount of good stuff. The riffing invokes a sort of influence from after the burial, crushing and scaling to the periphery like smooth transitions. The vocals have such a great range here that you would be surprised that they are all coming from one person. The drums pound away and have a very slow and subtle groove that complements the riffs very well. The bass is lower in the mix, but it sounds very good in that layering. Veil of Maya has taken a lot of risks with their work, and so it has given them a nice, diverse catalog that anyone can enjoy.
