Selfish acts are hard for me to describe how I feel. They are a hardcore band out of Buffalo, New York, that is heavy, for sure. They had some impressive vocals, thick bass, and somewhat decent drumming. The thing that stuck out to me was the guitar work. I'm not sure what to do. Call it, but they use a lot of “weedly-weedly” playing, and for some reason, I think it doesn’t mesh well with the overall sound they have. Especially since every track ends with this style of guitar work. which leads me into my next critique, and the song structures all feel the same. They sound hard and heavy at the start and then end with some fast guitar work that feels out of place. They have very impressive vocals throughout the episode and only get better as the episode goes along. Then the bass is the next consistent part that just sounds thick and solid. The drumming at times can be a bit sloppy, but for the most part, it has a good popping sound to it. The production here is nice and consistent. It’s definitely an interesting style of hardcore music that could turn into some good stuff, but the guitar work needs retooling, and the songs could use some variety in structure.
