Poser X Grasping At Straws - Our Heart Is a Garden, Our Head Is a Grave Review

Poser and grasping at straws spilled are two sides of the same coin here. Heavy, aggressive, and overproduced deathcore that doesn't really offer anything new to its listeners. Both bands could almost be interchangeable with how similar their songs sound. From heavy, low-tuned guitar riffs to demonic, bloodcurdling vocals, fast and blistering drums, big breakdowns, and super clean production. That might all sound pretty cool, but it feels at times already been done, so it doesn’t feel that fresh, or they are trying too hard to be so heavy that it comes off a bit bland. Even though they are very similar in sound and feel, I will say they have some slight differences that are noticeable. The positive side of the split is a bit different because on the opening track they are playing heavy and hard but switch things up and go into an acoustic and clean singing. It actually flows really nicely from the early parts of the song. The two songs from poser are mostly heavy deathcore styles of playing that sound very similar to your art, Murder and Veil of Maya. They take a lot of influence from those bands but try to make things sound bugger and bolder with the heavy production, and so the songs feel a bit too clean. It's good songs, but I feel there is no grit to them. Grasping at straws seems to tack more of a nu metal/metalcore influence with their style of deathcore. Then add some turntable scratches and have some groover and shorter songs. They have the feel of Kublai Khan, but without any of the swag. Are these some heavy tracks? Yeah, for sure. Are they really interesting? Not really. Will you have a good time listening to them? Yeah, they have a good sound to them, but it feels like any other heavy band out there these days.
