Pantera - Reinventing The Steel- Review

Reinventing the steel they are not doing here, but it's still a solid attempt from Groove Metal Kings Pantera. This is a pantera album for sure with all the groove riffs, groovy and bouncy drumming, heavy ass bass playing, and some tough as nails vocals. All the elements are, but it feels off a bit. I think they tried to experiment with their style a little, but here and there, and so you get some unusual songs and playing like Revolution is my name and Uplift. At times the album can feel a bit disjointed and can make certain parts of the songs feel sloppy. Also, at times the vocals feel a bit winded. Like he has lost his energy to sing. However, there are times when it is in full pissed off rage mode and sounds great. It feels like they were trying really hard to make some good songs here that just weren’t on the same level as their previous work. You can feel and understand why they took a break from each other to work on other stuff, because this isn't what their best material feels like. The final album to feature two of the most prominent members of Pantera Dimebag Darryl and his brother Vinnie is still an impressive album from these guys. It may not be the best Pantera album, but it's still a solid effort compared to some other bands working their ass off.
