Every bridge is definitely burning with this new LP from Nails. The blistering and intense powerviolence you expect from this band is back. In just a short 17 minutes, they are able to craft their usual style of crushing riffs, blasting drums, surprisingly groovy bass, and harsh vocals. They are so good at their style of music that it can actually come off a bit bland. The beginning of this record has the makings of a typical powerviolence record but with none of the staying power like the second half of the album. Either they tried some different tuning methods or recording methods in the first half of the album because something feels off or missing in the first part of the album. However, by the third song, “Every bridge burned,” and then track 5, “Lacking the Ability to Process Empathy,"  they really turn things up and bring the heat and feel like they are back to form, and then some. The lyrics are as pissed and harsh as ever as he talks about betrayal, remorse, and pain. At times they are straightforward, like “give me the painkiller,” or a bit more abstract, like “I can’t turn it off." With these intense lyrics, you have dynamic drumming that is crushing it from the blast beats to the tight drum fills. The riffs start off a bit off on the record but really get into their nasty groove by the end of the record. The bass has a deep and hard feel to it that just makes the songs feel so dense. The fire is still strong and passionate with this new release from nails.
