It wasn’t perfect — the production leaned heavily on atmosphere, sometimes at the expense of impact — but it planted the seed of something interesting. With their new EP Death Needs Another, Mutation Wrld aren’t just following up; they’re making a statement. This isn’t a band testing the waters anymore. This is a band proving they’re ready to grow into something nastier, heavier, and more confident.

The record kicks off with “D.N.A.”, and right away you can tell the difference. The opening crawl of hollow drums and eerie guitars rings out like a warning siren, building tension before the pit cracks wide open. It’s the perfect tone-setter, letting you know Mutation Wrld have tightened their craft. The riffs feel sharper, the drums cut cleaner, and when the bass creeps in under the breakdowns, it lands with real weight. Unlike the demo, where atmosphere sometimes carried too much of the load, here it’s just another weapon in their arsenal — used with intent, never overdone.

That confidence carries straight into “Bleed Out.” This track is pure chaos in the best way possible. The drum work is nastier, the riffs twist and lurch with dissonant aggression, and the vocals — already one of Mutation Wrld’s strongest weapons — are layered and mixed with more clarity than ever before. It’s here that the band taps into something reminiscent of Sanction’s brand of mathy metalcore destruction: whammy bar madness bending riffs out of shape, eerie leads weaving through relentless double-kick passages, and breakdowns that suffocate harder each time they hit. It’s disgusting, it’s chaotic, and it’s executed with precision.

“Silent Collapse” shifts gears just enough to keep things interesting. The track hits faster, snapping harder with its snare while finding a groovier stride. The vocal versatility is on full display here, with gutturals dropping low into the depths while highs slice through the mix. What really stands out, though, is the band’s willingness to experiment with clean vocals. On the demo, cleans were more of a tease — hinted at but never fully explored. Here, they creep in with more purpose, though they’re still buried too deep in the mix to have the impact they could. Even so, the intent matters. Paired with heavy bass drops and punishing breakdowns, the cleans add an extra layer of atmosphere, helping the track balance menace with melancholy.

The closer, “One Blind,” might be the most adventurous moment on the EP. It begins with dissonant riffs that simmer before exploding into some of the tightest, most ferocious drumming Mutation Wrld have delivered yet. The bass, which often hangs back until the breakdowns, is finally given some space to carry the low end with authority. But what makes this track stand out is its shift into melodic territory. Clean vocals are mixed better here than anywhere else on the record, and when paired with soft-spoken lines and goosebump-inducing melodic riffs, the result feels like a band breaking out of the box they built on their demo. It’s a clear sign they’re not content to just recycle the same ideas — they’re already pushing themselves into new territory.

What ties Death Needs Another together is its sense of refinement. The demo was exciting but uneven; it promised big things without always sticking the landing. This EP delivers on that promise. Mutation Wrld still embrace grime, dissonance, and chaos, but they’ve tightened every screw. The drums snap harder, the vocals cut sharper, the breakdowns slam heavier, and their experiments with melody and cleans suggest a band unafraid to evolve. There are still small critiques — the bass disappears too often outside of breakdowns, and some transitions into melodic sections could be smoothed out — but those are minor compared to the leap forward on display here.

Where the demo hinted at potential, Death Needs Another proves Mutation Wrld are already leveling up. It isn’t just a rehash of what they’ve done before; it’s heavier, creepier, more deliberate, and more dynamic. For fans of Sanction, Vein.fm, or anyone who loves metalcore that thrives on dissonance and eerie atmosphere, this record is absolutely worth your time. Mutation Wrld have gone from promising newcomers to a band actively carving out their place in the Thai heavy music scene. Death Needs Another is filthy, refined, and ferocious — an EP that builds on everything the demo introduced and pushes it to the next level.

ถ้าเดโมเป็นแค่การ “สัญญา” ว่าพวกเขามีศักยภาพ Death Needs Another ก็คือการพิสูจน์ว่า Mutation Wrld กำลัง “อัพเลเวล” อย่างแท้จริง มันไม่ได้เป็นเพียงการทำซ้ำสิ่งเดิม ๆ แต่คือผลงานที่หนักกว่า หลอนกว่า มีเป้าหมายชัดกว่า และหลากหลายกว่า สำหรับแฟน ๆ ของ Sanction, Vein.fm หรือใครก็ตามที่ชอบเมทัลคอร์สายดิสโซแนนซ์และบรรยากาศอึมครึม EP นี้คือสิ่งที่คุณห้ามพลาด Mutation Wrld ก้าวจากวงน้องใหม่ที่มีแวว ไปสู่การเป็นวงที่กำลังสลักชื่อไว้ในซีนเพลงหนักของไทย Death Needs Another คือ EP ที่สกปรก ประณีต และดุเดือด ที่ต่อยอดจากทุกสิ่งที่เดโมเคยเริ่มต้นไว้
