Kill The Lights - Death Melodies Review

If Trivium and Hoobastank had a baby, you would get killed by the lights. This metalcore rock band combines the fast and chugging groove style of Trivium with the catchy vocals of Hoobstank to create a fun and interesting listening experience. The heavy parts are well played with some hard chugging riffs, deep and hard pounding drums, and thick basslines. When they go for those metalcore moments, they sound really good and hit really hard. With some very harsh vocals that don't sound half bad. These are usually during the verses of the songs, but when it comes to the choruses, they tend to move into the traditional radio rock vibes with some catchy lyrics and soft singing. Then you have the clean vistas that are usually accompanied during these parts. They have some catchiness to them, but the clean vocals seem to be very strained and forced compared to the unclean vocals. So they seem to fall flat or sound awkward most of the time. The pacing of all the songs feels good and feels like it’s probably paced out. There are times when they switch gears and styles, and it feels a bit disjointed. The recordings on here sound really good and have a nice heavyweight to them, and so they seem to pack a punch. Besides a few tacks feeling a bit bland or played badly, most of the songs are entertaining. A fun band to listen to with some fun tricks up their sleeves.
