The newest punk band to come out of California called Holy Blade and are here to give the world what it needed and didn’t know it needed: sexy punk goth! This punk band is mixing elements of goth and sexy and giving the punk/hhardcore scene some refreshing music to jam to. The drums and bass are probably the most standout thing on this episode. I like how the drums feel very loose but tight at the same time. They have a very unorthodox feel to them that is very captivating and mesmerizing. Then the bass is played so low and thick that it also puts you in a nice trance. The guitars have a simple play style but have a nice fast punk vibe to them that puts you in the ear in the right way. The vocals are very interesting because they seem to be playing with a lot of distorting and reverb to give them some sadness. The words all carry a weight of sadness that sounds pretty cool. I will say at times the vocal mixing can get a little too low or too high and get lost a bit in the mix, but I think it was done on purpose to give the songs more of a dramatic effect. Speaking of effect, the EP has a great atmosphere with the mix of western-like guitars and chilling pianos. It all gets really nicely fleshed out by the good production. Holy Blade is here to kick ass and make you weep, and I'm all for it!
