Death is a little more but also a little bland on this new boundaries album. This hardcore band is bringing some heavy sounds on this album, from brutal vocals to heavy riffs and monstrous drums, but sometimes it feels a bit by the numbers. These guys can do heavy music for sure, and they are able to add in some melodic, clean singing to help breathe life into this heavy record. However, their big, heavy sound kind of feels repetitive on this record. Some of the songs have a familiar intensity that you get over and over. They sound well produced but just sound too similar to one another, so it makes it hard to find any distinctive elements to them. The songs that do have a good feel or unique vibe have some cool vocalizing or interesting riffs to make them stick out. They do a good job of paying homage to the metalcore scene from back in the day, but at times just feel a bit bland. The lyrics on this record are quite refreshing with how they use some nice metaphors to help shape their writing and make it fun to dissect the songs. Are they pushing the boundaries or metal? No, not really, but they are making some halfway decent songs on their journey.
