The first half of the split is from Time x Heist, a band that brings a hard-hitting youth crew-style sound. They definitely bring the energy with their songs, all of which are solidly produced and packed with raw intensity. What really stood out to me here were the drums—tight, energetic, and dynamic, they provide a solid backbone to these tracks. The percussion truly carries the momentum and adds a bit of flavor to their youthful hardcore vibe.
One of the standout moments from their portion of the split is their cover of "My Better Half" by Wise. If this cover is anything to go by, these guys have some real potential. They took a beloved track and made it their own without losing the heart of the original, while still giving it a fresh spin. Their version has an unmistakable energy and urgency that really pays homage to the spirit of the original, all while adding their own unique touch. It’s a well-executed cover that shows their ability to tackle material from a different angle while still respecting the legacy of the original song.
Then we have Without Love, who also deliver a strong showing on this split. This band has a knack for creating solid, no-nonsense hardcore tracks. They're consistent, and I’ve found that they’re never disappointing. Their new songs here are packed with the same type of intensity and energy that we've come to expect from them. Tight playing, creative guitar work, and a driving rhythm section make these tracks stand out. The drums are blistering, the bass is heavy and deep, and the guitar riffs are both creative and aggressive.
The energy from these new songs is undeniable, and the production helps capture that feeling perfectly. And again, their cover of "My Better Half" fits seamlessly into their set of songs. The mix and mastering of the cover were done exceptionally well, really bringing out a modern edge while preserving the soul of the original. You can hear how the band elevated the track, giving it a new life for today’s audience, while still honoring the classic.
Overall, this split is a solid release that showcases both bands’ strengths. Time x Heist’s high-energy youth crew sound blends perfectly with Without Love’s tight, aggressive hardcore style. They each bring something unique to the table, and together, they create a balanced, punchy record. It’s clear that both bands have put in the work to make this split a memorable one.
