Return to Mar Music Reviews 2023
The Guilt D.C. might just make you feel a little guilty for how much fun you’ll have listening to their latest hardcore release. Drawing heavy inspiration from classic NYC hardcore, they deliver a sound that feels raw, urgent, and unapologetically old-school. Fans of Sick of It All and Biohazard will immediately feel at home, but what sets them apart is the distinct Irish twang in the vocals, adding a unique flavor to the mix.
This band isn’t here to reinvent the wheel—they’re here to have fun and bring pure, unfiltered hardcore energy. Blazing-fast drums, sharp guitar riffs, and short, punchy tracks make up their formula, and it works. The EP flies by in a burst of aggression, sticking to the tried-and-true hardcore blueprint that has fueled mosh pits for decades.
That being said, if you’re looking for a fresh take or an evolution of the genre, you won’t necessarily find that here. The Guilt D.C. plays to their strengths, delivering exactly what you’d expect—no surprises, just straight-up, no-frills hardcore. But sometimes, that’s exactly what you want.
If you’re a fan of classic, fast-paced hardcore with a nostalgic edge, this is a band worth checking out and supporting. Whether you’re looking for a new name to add to your rotation or just a solid, no-BS hardcore EP to blast at full volume, The Guilt D.C. delivers a fun, familiar, and undeniably energetic listen.
