Knoxville’s hard-hitting hardcore band Shogun delivers an uncompromising two-track promo that showcases their precision, power, and creative versatility. From blistering speed to crushing grooves, Shogun proves they can command every corner of the hardcore spectrum.

“No Time for Apologies” is an adrenaline-fueled opener that sets the tone with relentless aggression. The drums are a standout feature, delivering lightning-fast beats and sharp fills that keep the track driving forward. The riffs are dense and unyielding, blending toughness with a groovy undertone that adds a dynamic layer of rhythm. Vocals are layered perfectly, maintaining a gritty, commanding presence that matches the track’s intensity. The snare has a crisp, satisfying pop that punches through the mix, and the bass resonates deeply, anchoring the track with weight and depth. As the song progresses, thrashy riffs inject a raw, chaotic energy, culminating in an explosive finish that leaves no room for complacency. Despite its short runtime, this track is packed with enough twists and grooves to keep listeners fully engaged.

“Battlegrounds” offers a stark but well-calculated contrast, dialing back the speed for a heavier, more deliberate approach. The slow, measured opening creates a sense of tension, with a gradual drum buildup that highlights Shogun’s ability to control the pace. The track’s thrashy undertones are reminiscent of bands like Judiciary, bringing a gritty, crossOVER ardcore flavor. The drums continue to shine here, delivering gnarly double kicks and transitions that feel seamless and natural. Midway through, the song shifts into a smooth, circle-pit-worthy section, combining groove and aggression effortlessly. The deep bass adds atmospheric depth, particularly in the slower, ambient moments, before leading into a punishing breakdown that ends the track on a high note.

With this promo, Shogun demonstrates why they’re a rising force in the hardcore scene. The band’s tight grooves, exceptional drumming, and ability to balance speed and heaviness make this release a must-listen for fans of the genre. Whether it’s the slick transitions of “No Time for Apologies” or the crushing buildup of “Battlegrounds,” Shogun delivers a performance that’s as intense as it is memorable. This is a band that demands attention—and they’ve got the skills to back it up.
