Nuff Said: A Michigan Band You Can’t Ignore

Nuff Said is a Michigan-based band that has truly hit the mark with their gripping sound that’s bound to get your heart racing. From hard-hitting drums to gritty riffs, raw vocals, and basslines that push boundaries, this band takes no prisoners. If you’re looking for a fresh and intense experience, their music will undoubtedly leave you with your jaw on the floor.

One of the standout features of their sound is the drums. The way the kick drums hit so deep and punchy is something you can feel right in your chest. Tracks like “On Your Own” and “Cold Water” showcase just how massive and intense these rhythms can get. The drums aren't just there to keep time—they’re the powerhouse behind the music, driving the energy forward with forceful precision.

The guitar riffs carry that raw, gritty edge, bringing in a bit of a static, nu-metal quality that makes you want to thrash around. On songs like “Nuff Said” and “Cold Water,” the riffs may be simple, but they’re full of energy and punch. It’s the kind of sound that gets under your skin, raw and visceral—exactly what you want when you’re in the mood to cause some chaos.

The bass isn’t always upfront, but when it does step into the spotlight, it adds a crucial layer to the sound. Tracks like “On Your Own” and “Cold Water” really show how the bass lines can drive the rhythm and give the music a nice, hefty groove. And that bass drop in “Cold Water”? Absolute perfection. It’s clean and packs a punch, making the track even heavier.

Speaking of clean, let’s talk about the absolute genius use of “Stay With Me,” a famous 80s Japanese city pop song. When it dropped into “Cold Water,” my mind was blown. The transition was so smooth and unexpected that it had me wanting to throw my bass down and start a mosh pit on the subway. It’s moments like this that make the band stand out—they have an uncanny ability to seamlessly mix genres and create something fresh.

Vocally, Nuff Said brings raw emotion to the table. The vocals are full of grit, with a layer of pain that resonates deeply. Songs like “On Your Own” and “Soulless Child” feel genuinely emotional, with real depth behind every word. The use of a haunting backing choir on “Soulless Child” adds a whole new level to the track, enhancing the emotional weight and making it feel monumental.

The only critique I’d throw out is on “Nuff Said.” There’s a line where they mention "two-step," and it kind of felt a little cheesy. It works live, but on the recording, it didn’t quite hit the same way. The rhythm of the song already implies that two-step vibe, so it felt a bit redundant to call it out explicitly.

Song Breakdown:

NUFF SAID

  • The riffs are gritty with a raw, static edge that gives the song a unique feel.
  • Vocals are clean but still have that edge.
  • Drums are punchy, driving the track with their deep kick drum sounds.
  • The mention of "two-step" felt a bit out of place—should’ve been implied in the rhythm.
  • Great, clean transition overall.

ON YOUR OWN

  • The riffs and drums come in strong with a gritty, raw feel.
  • The bass is low and hard, really adding weight to the track.
  • Vocals are clear and forceful.
  • The drums have a lot of punch, especially with the kick drum, making the track feel massive.
  • The middle section drags a bit, feeling a little repetitive, but the break with that killer snare and breakdown is hard-hitting.

COLD WATER feat. Nate of Lyuda

  • This track has a clear nu-metal feel, with riffs that hit hard and drums that absolutely kill.
  • The song has tons of bounce, and the drums just keep the energy flowing.
  • Bass sounds thick and low in the midsection, adding a gritty layer.
  • Nate’s guest vocals fit perfectly with the band, his crisp delivery blending well with the overall sound.
  • The surprise “Plastic Love” reference had me wanting to mosh in the subway. Absolutely genius.

SOULLESS CHILD

  • A slower, more menacing track that takes things down a notch.
  • The riffs and drums are pulled back, giving the track a different vibe from the others, making it feel more fleshed out and less repetitive.
  • Has a New York hardcore feel to it, with a bit of a slow, sludgy vibe.
  • The haunting backing vocals elevate the track, adding texture and emotion.
  • The bass here is dense, giving the track a real sense of weight.
  • A perfect slow-burn ending to the album.

Overall, Nuff Said has layers to them that are hard to ignore. Their sound is raw, intense, and filled with surprises—making them a band you’ll want to keep on your radar. The drums, guitars, bass, and vocals all come together to create a cohesive experience that will leave you wanting more. And while there are a couple of moments that feel a bit unnecessary or redundant, the band is clearly on the right path, pushing boundaries and crafting a sound that’s all their own. If you’re into raw, hard-hitting music that’s full of emotion and intensity, Nuff Said is a band you won’t want to miss.
