The traditions aren’t dying slowly here on this record from morning again. A straightedge metalcore band from the 90s that helped shape modren metalcore with their ripping riffs, deep drums, bass, and visceral vocals. They came out at the time when the style of playing was all the rage, and I think this band does a decent job of emulating while also expanding on the sound. The riffs can get a bit repetitive with that shreddy style of guitar playing, but they tried to inject some more dynamic playing by making some slower tracks that really benefited them and gave them so fresh-sounding riffs at times. The riffs do play hard and fast, but in those moments of slowed, they can have some mesmerizing and groovy riffs. The vocals have a sense of urgency backed with well-written lyrics that make you really feel what's being said. The drumming has a really deep sound to it and got some groovy chops. At times though the guitars seem to drown them out. The bass playing here does a lot with how low its tuned. The major hindrance of this album is a mix of production and playing from the members. The production feels very dated and at times just seems really rough and not in the best way. It feels very DIY and like it's the producers first time making a record. There are also some moments where the band's inexperience shows with some sloppy, messy parts here and there, but not enough to ruin the album. Its album did its job for a young band and young listeners at the time and still kind of holds up.
