It may be called shame, but this is more of a joy than anything. Massive does not even come close to describing how huge this new album from the band Meth is. You get a constant wall of sound just dropped on you, and the craziest part is that it doesn't sound overproduced or painful to listen to. I don’t know if an album has ever engulfed me in such pure sound and just slowed me down and taken me on a journey like this. The guitars are sludgy and distorted, and they just pummel you with huge riffs. The vocals are like a madman howling at the moon or tenderly singing to you. Bass that sounds like it's heavier than a black sun. The drums are bold and create a sense of impending doom with how they slowy build every time or quick insanity with their polished blast beats. The buildup on these tracks is unreal. Usually these slow and structured songs might come off boring, but they know how to build tension with their songs, so you are on the edge of your seat as you listen to each second, waiting for the next part of the song. The wall of sound you feel and hear is carefully crafted from some of the top-notch productions I heard this year. Potentially a huge contender for record of the year.
