Discover Diazable's review of Denver, Colorado's punk band Destiny Bond's debut album 'Be My Vengeance,' tackling themes of trans rights, self-reflection, and existential discovery. Explore the band's raw passion and powerful message in today's punk scene.

Destiny Bond had a bit of a shaky start here with this album. The punk band from Colorado felt underwhelming or sloppy at the start. The opening song, "chew,"  felt like it was dragging along a bit too long and didn't really feel like it had a real direction till the end of the song. After this song, the next few songs improved with pacing and energy. However, the songs felt a bit clunky and not really cohesive. It was bad, but not that good either. But something changed midway through the album, and the band seemed to have more energy, vibrant playing, and just an overall better sound. The song structures were better, the production sounded crisper, and the variety on the tracks was nice. The main vocalist's performance really took off in the middle part of the album. Her lyrics are good throughout the album, like great words about seeing who you are as a person and how the world perceives you—very deep stuff. Her performance just sounded more experienced in the middle and back of the album. The riffs got more stylish and polished. The drumming came alive and had more grit and raw energy to it. The bass was even more fleshed out. It's like something kicked them into overdrive to do better, and they were just nailing it track after track. There are times when the riffs or drums feel clunky, but this kind of clunkyness adds to the punk vibes and keeps the energy up. They definitely found their vengeance here; it just took them awhile to get to it.
