The latest album from Sylosis feels like a reflection of the band’s journey thus far, delivering a sound that, at times, seems to recycle elements from their past work—and from the broader metal genre. While there's plenty of technical skill and solid musicianship on display, a lot of the riffs and song structures feel familiar, as though they’re drawing from well-established metal templates. As a result, much of the album lacks the element of surprise or innovation that might have made it feel fresh and groundbreaking. It’s not that the music is bad—it’s just that, in places, it doesn’t push any boundaries.

However, what this album lacks in originality, it makes up for in quality. Sylosis has brought in some experienced producers who have clearly helped refine their sound. The production is stellar, with the guitars sounding clean and polished—almost "churchy" in their clarity, which gives the album an atmospheric depth. The bass work is especially noteworthy, adding a layer of emotional weight and groove to the songs. Meanwhile, the drums are executed with precision and technical flair, often driving the songs forward with tight rhythms and intricate patterns, and they’re mixed with just the right amount of punch.

Vocally, the unclean growls are a highlight, maintaining their usual intensity and conviction, though the clean vocals sometimes fall short of matching that same level of power. At times, they feel a bit weaker or strained, lacking the smoothness that would elevate some of the more melodic sections.

Sylosis has been a fixture in the metal scene for over a decade now, and it's clear that they’ve found a signature sound—a blend of melodic death metal, thrash, and technicality—that works for them. The band doesn’t venture too far beyond these familiar territories on this album, but when they do step outside their comfort zone, the results are impressive. These moments, though few, show glimpses of the band’s potential for growth and innovation, and hint at what might come in the future if they decide to take more risks. Overall, while this album may not break new ground, it’s a solid effort from a band that knows exactly who they are and what they do best.
